ECTC: Information for Teachers

This page provides details specific to ECTC.

There are two ways to get the Early Childhood Teacher Credential (ECTC):
  • Approved College Route 
  • Individual Review Route
Approved College Route
An individual must:
Individual Review Route (IRR)
  • Currently working in the early childhood field or have at least one year of experience
  • Graduated from a regionally accredited higher education institution with any degree NOT related to early childhood, child development, or child studies. 
  • Must have completed 12 credits in early childhood or child development
IRR Process:
  1. Be a member in the Connecticut Early Childhood Registry
  2. Submit all education documents to the Connecticut Early Childhood Registry to be verified and recorded to Registry profile
