8/29/2019Flushing Drinking Water Taps to Reduce Lead
  The Connecticut Department of Public Health recommends that school and child care facilities implement an ongoing flushing program to reduce possible lead concentrations in drinking water.
8/8/2019The Office of Early Childhood (OEC) has finalized the OEC Roster
  The OEC has designed the OEC Roster to establish a complete list of individuals associated with each Connecticut facility that is required to complete background checks, provide background check status and “next background check needed” dates to facilities for individuals associated with their program and provide the first round of data collection for the OEC BCIS (Background Check Information System) that will record all OEC background check activities.
7/17/2019Office of Early Childhood Announces Rate Increase in Care 4 Kids Program
  The Office of Early Childhood announced today a significant rate increase for Care 4 Kids, a state and federally funded program for lower income working families to help pay for child care. This rate increase for child care centers serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers is the first in many years thanks, in part, to $14 million in new federal Child Care Development Fund dollars, and Connecticut’s long-standing investment in this program. The rate increases will go into effect September 1, 2019.

  The Legal Office of the Office of Early Childhood provides two updates pertaining to background checks.
6/11/2019OEC Awards 16 Grantees to Provide Home Visiting Services
  The OEC has awarded 16 contracts to provide an array of family-centered home visiting services across Connecticut.
5/30/2019Vaccine-Preventable Disease Reporting and Vaccination in Camps
  The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) Immunization Program would like to raise awareness about ongoing measles outbreaks in the United States.
4/29/2019Connecticut Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five (PDG B-5)
  In December 2018, Connecticut’s Office of Early Childhood (OEC) was awarded an $8.6 million Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five (PDG B-5) from the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families. The one-year project period runs from December 31, 2018 to December 30, 2019.
