Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo has a proud history of over 80 years as Connecticut’s only zoo. As an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and participant in its Species Survival Plan (SSP) programs, we are committed to the preservation of endangered animals and are actively developing strategies that will protect species and preserve their wild habitats. Through education, conservation, research and recreation, Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo provides a wonderfully wild experience for students and families.
Now the Beardsley Zoo is teaming with Trout Unlimited to bring the Trout in the Classroom program to the Zoo.  The Zoo is cuurenty working with seventh and eighth grade students from two schools, Bridge Academy and Park City Preparatory School. More schools may be added in the future. Because of its special leadership role and resources, the Zoo is in a unique position to further the goals of the Trout in the Classroom program.
Release site: Pequonnock River - Beardsley Park (the trout will be kept year round and over the summer and not released until the fall, when new eggs arrive).
