Holiday Carnival Gingerbread House Contest

Entries to the Gingerbread House contest must be received by November 23, 2015.

Calling all Gingerbread House Enthusiasts! Individuals, community groups, schools, church groups and culinary entities, are invited to enter the Second Annual Gingerbread House Contest at Olde Mistick Village. Entries will be divided into three categories: 1) Individuals, Families, and Children; 2) Businesses, Churches and Community Groups; and 3) Professional Culinary Individuals and Groups. All Gingerbread Houses must be entirely edible with exception of the foundation base.

 Winners in each category will be chosen by People’s Choice voting during the Holiday Carnival from Noon to 5pm, Saturday, December 5, 2015. The general public is invited to join in the fun of our Holiday Carnival, and to cast a vote for their favorite Gingerbread House creation. Winners will be announced in the Olde Mistick Village Meeting House at 6pm that day.

 All contest entries will be displayed in select merchant businesses at Olde Mistick Village from Thursday, December 3th through Sunday, December 6th.

 First, Second, and Third Prizes will be awarded in three categories. Additionally, a Grand Prize will be awarded, which will be a combination of the People’s Choice votes and the Official Holiday Carnival Committee.

 Entries to the Gingerbread House contest must be received by November 23, 2015. Entry forms may be obtained on the Olde Mistick Village website at www.OldeMistickVillage.com; from the Administration Office in Bldg. 2; or via email to: OMVgingerbreadhouse@yahoo.com.


This free event is fun, family-friendly, and open to the general public. The event is sponsored by the Olde Mistick Village Merchants Association.


Holiday Carnival

{Santa Carnival}

Family fun indoors and outdoors, throughout Olde Mistick Village

Back by popular demand is the horse drawn wagon ride by Fox Glove Farm from Old Lyme. Bring the whole family for a FREE ride around the Village.

Don’t forget – Santa will be on the Village Green to have his photo taken with your pet(s) from 1-4pm. This is your opportunity to get that special photo of the most important member of the family!

Calling children age 9 and under only…Santa’s Workshop will be open from Noon to 4pm in the Meeting House for some special shopping just for you. Santa’s elf, Gumdrop, will be there to help you shop in a store designed just for you. It’s a special opportunity for youngsters to shop for their favorite folks. All items are under $10.

Throughout the Village there will be FREE entertainment all afternoon. The ever popular stilt walkers and fire jugglers will delight young and old, the Ladies of the Rolling Pin will have children dancing around the duck pond and choirs from Stonington, Mystic and Montville will be leading the caroling. As always the Festive Brass will be playing in the Gazebo and parading around the Village.

Walk through our winter wonderland from dusk until 9:30 p.m., when over 4,000 luminaries light the walkways of Olde Mistick Village and Mystic Aquarium Olde Mistick Village Events: Complimentary refreshments in the Meeting House. Holiday music by Ragtime Too from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Outdoor entertainment includes: Too Tall Guys, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Fly By Night Holiday Jesters, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. The Festive Brass will be performing in the Gazebo from 6:00 p.m. on. Walkways and restrooms are handicapped accessible. There are many benches and rest areas to catch your breath, unwind, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and let your mind slip pleasantly back to another era.

From RI, NH, VT and eastern MA: I-95 south to Exit 90: turn left at the end of the ramp: at second light turn left onto Coogan Blvd and entrance to the village is your first left.

From NY, NJ and southern CT: I-95 north to Exit 90: turn right at the end of the ramp: at first light turn left onto Coogan Blvd and entrance to village is your first left.

From Western MA and Northern CT: RT 91 south to RT9 south to RT95 north to Exit 90: turn right at the end the ramp: at first light turn left onto Coogan Blvd and entrance to village is your first left.
