Three mornings of activities during Christmas Vacation Week Each program runs from 9:00-12:00 Programs are for ages 6 – 12 Pre-registration is required. PROGRAM DATES: (program information to come) Monday, December 28:  Tuesday, December 29, Wednesday, December 29, 2015.

Fee:  CRM Members: $20/child per day; $50/week;  Non Members: $25/child per day; $65/week.

The Connecticut River Museum is handicapped accessible.



Fifty-seven years ago, the Rotary Club of Essex introduced the quintessential New England shoreline tradition; a dining experience known as a shad bake.  Yankee Magazine has called it one of the “Top 20 Summer Events”.   The Connecticut River Museum is happy to be able to host this classic New England event.

From Interstate 91, take Exit 22 (CT Route 9 South). Take CT Route 9 South (26 miles) to Exit 3 (Essex) and follow signs to Connecticut River Museum and Essex Historic Waterfront. The Connecticut River Museum at Steamboat Dock is located at the foot of Main Street on the Connecticut River.

From Interstate 95, take Exit 69 (CT Route 9 North). Take CT Route 9 North to Exit 3 (Essex) and follow signs to Connecticut River Museum and Essex Historic Waterfront. The Connecticut River Museum at Steamboat Dock is located at the foot of Main Street on the Connecticut River.

Parking: There is on-street parking along Main Street in downtown Essex. There will be a shuttle bus running from the Town Hall Parking lot which is located at 29 West Avenue, Essex, CT 06426. The Shuttle will be running continuously from X:xx through X:xx and will take riders directly to and from the Connecticut River Museum.

From Route 9 southbound, take exit 3, left at the ramp end, immediate left at the traffic light onto West Avenue, Town Hall is on your left at Grove Street.

From Route 9 northbound, take exit 3, take a left at the ramp end, and then right at light onto West Avenue.

From New Haven and West, take exit 65 off of I-95, Westbrook exit, left onto 153 for several miles, straight through the light at Bokum Center, straight through the next light onto what will now be West Avenue, and to the Town Hall.

Handicap Parking: There is a limited amount of handicap parking located at the Connecticut River Museum. Feel free to use the Lay House or the circle at the foot of main street as a drop off point if necessary.
