Envisionfest Hartford offers a unique opportunity for people of all ages to discover and celebrate the capital city’s transformation through a day-long, free festival of music, walking, biking, tours, innovation & discovery that will bring more than 15,000 people to the capital city from 11:00 AM- 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 21, 2013.

Every aspect of the free, city-wide event will showcase Hartford’s abundance of innovative history, arts and extraordinary cultural assets. Hundreds of live entertainment and hands-on activities will stimulate the senses.

Just a few of the festivities include:
  • Free live musical entertainment and dramatic performances on five stages
  • Free admission to more than four museums
  • Landmark building tours
  • A Hodge Podge Street fair in Bushnell Park. 
It will also showcase the State of Connecticut’s Create Here Now Initiative, which gives artists, crafters and arts related entrepreneurs a boost in starting small businesses.

Discover Hartford Bicycle Tour Kicks Off at Elm Street. The 2013 Discover Hartford Bicycle Tour will kick off Hartford's Envisionfest celebration. Join them for a family friendly, leisurely ride to discover Hartford's neighborhoods, parks, architectural and cultural gems.  Choose from 10-, 25- or 40- mile routes.  Registration required, fee for participating.

See live bugs and create your own butterfly puppet with the CT Children's Museum at the Wadsworth Athenem Museum of Art.

Open House and free admission at the Old Statehouse (800 Main Street).  Discover and “meet” some of the state’s most important innovators including Hartford’s founder Thomas Hooker, educator Prudence Crandall and suffragist Frances Ellen Burr. Using Scavenger Hunts, they’ll explore the highlighted stories of Connecticut citizens and events that encouraged greater democracy.

Enjoy crafts in the Holcombe Center, the Hartford is All Around Us Exhibit courtesy of the Connecticut Historical Society and Museum and a scavenger hunt throughout the Old State House.

Opening day of Connecticut Science Center's new exhibit BODIES REVEALED. With the purchase of an adult ticket to the Science Center you will get a child's ticket free on September 21st (250 Columbus Boulevard).

Watch the Hartford Stage Children's Cabaret Theatre at Hartford Stage Tent in Bushnell Park (adjacent to the Pump House).

While there are no specific accessibility provisions, most events are street level, and should be accessibile for all children.
 
 
Envisionfest Hartford is a free one-day festival on September 21st and a unique opportunity for people of all ages to discover and celebrate the capital city’s transformation.  Every aspect of the free city-wide event will showcase Hartford’s abundance of innovative history, arts and extraordinary cultural assets. Hundreds of live entertainment and hands-on activities will stimulate the senses, from free live musical entertainment and dramatic performances on six stages, to free admission to more than eight museums, landmark building tours, and lawn games in Bushnell Park.
 
Each step or pedal made on September 21st will have visitors making new discoveries throughout Hartford and provide an opportunity to experience the ongoing transformation by the iQuilt Plan. All Envisionfest activities will take place along the GreenWalk and new routes connecting the State Capitol, historic Bushnell Park, downtown streets, and Constitution Plaza.
 
It is also an opportunity to see how the city and scenic riverfront are alive with music, art and science.
 
Who is sponsoring Envisionfest? Envisionfest Hartford is a creation from the iQuilt Project, a nonprofit organization whose members include: The Bushnell, the Greater Hartford Arts Council, MetroHartford Alliance, Metropolitan District Commission, Hartford Business Improvement District, Riverfront Recapture, and the Capital Region Development Authority as well as the City of Hartford and the State of Connecticut. The iQuilt Project is a culture based urban design plan for Downtown Hartford that aims to integrate its cultural sites and institutions. It also showcases Hartford’s commitment to connectivity, innovative encouragement, historical exhibitions, and cultural diversity. Envisionfest will jump start the iQuilt Project by enlightening over 15,000 people with Hartford’s grand transformation.  For more information on the iQuilt Plan please go to www.theiquiltplan.org .

On-street parking in Hartford is free on weekends to those legally parked in a metered or zoned parking space (Please be sure to take note of any limitations noted by signage in close proximity to the selected on-street space).
