2011 Race  Date: Saturday, March 26, 2011 for the 20th Annual Race

Registration: 9:00 am to 11:00 am at See Map (see #5) in the Powder Hollow Barn at the Finish by South Maple Street Bridge. Last pre-start bus to Novice and Race Start Area at 11:05. Don't be left behind - be early, the bus fills up.

Reminder - Everyone needs to go to finish line (Powder Mill Barn) to pick up their numbered Bibs for the race. 32 South Maple Street,Enfield Ct( Even for all those who pre-registered )

Start Times: Mandatory Race Meeting: 11:15am at See Map (see #1)
Novice Start: 11:30
Racing Classes Start: 12:00 Pm
Entry Fee: $20.- per individual, $18.- with a donation to Enfield Food Shelf. This includes insurance fee. Note: Entry Fee is pending final insurance fee.
FREE spectator parking will be available at the staff parking lot of Fermi High School (corner of North Maple Street and Moody Road).  The free shuttle bus will provide spectators a worry free trip to and from the Powder Mill Barn on race day.  The bus will run from 11:30 am until about one half hour after the end of the race.
Come and enjoy the race, and donít worry about finding a parking space at Powder Hollow.
Remember to bring a food item to help fill our canoe for the Enfield Food Shelf.

Racing Course:  5 Miles with 1 mandatory Portage from Somersville, CT to Powder Hollow Barn in Hazardville. 3 Class II Rapids, including the popular finish area. Lots of spectators. Race is a part of New England Canoe Association Series (NECRA)
Novice Course: 2.5 miles of downriver racing from Somersville, CT to RT-191 Bridge (Broadbrook Road, Enfield CT). Class I rapids.
NEW RULES FOR RACING FOR 2011: All boaters entering the entire 5 mile race must wear helmets including all kayakers. ( Bicycle, skateboarding, or whitewater helmets are acceptable )
All racers 16 and under must wear helmet.

ENTERTAINMENT:  Post Race: Footage from the race will be played on large screens in the barn immediately after the race.
This is an outdoor sporting event. Access is limited. Parents should contact the Scantic Spring Splash Committee regarding participation.  
The Scantic Spring Splash Committee is a committee of the Scantic River Watershed Assocoation.
The Scantic River Watershed Association (SRWA) is a 501c (3) all-volunteer non-profit environmental organization and advocacy group originally formed in 1972. The watershed immerses itself in all matters of the river.
