Construction Activity to Begin for the Rehabilitation of East Rocks Road over Route 15 in the City of Norwalk
 
 
The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that work to complete the rehabilitation of the East Rocks Road Bridge over Route 15 in the City of Norwalk will begin the week of April 13, 2009.
 

The project was awarded to New England Road, Inc. of Clinton, Ct on December 16, 2008 at a cost of $4,768,001.50 and is scheduled for completion May 15, 2011.

 

The project involves the replacement of the arched portion of the structure and rehabilitation of other portions of the bridge.  The project is being completed in phases and will require detouring of East Rocks Road for a portion of the work.  Temporary crossovers may also be used on Route 15 during nighttime hours.  Advance notification of these events will be provided.

 

Night work will begin Monday, April 20, 2009 and will include the installation of “Low Clearance” warning devices in advance of the worksite in case of oversize vehicles entering parkway.

Motorists may experience delays as follows:

Route 15

Daytime shoulder closures only 9AM–3PM with the exception of the certain operations. 

 

Night time closures may reduce traffic to single lane of travel

 

Northbound: Monday – Thursday 8PM to 6AM, Friday 9PM to 9AM Saturday

 

Southbound: Monday – Thursday 6PM to 6AM, Friday 7PM to 9AM Saturday

 

East Rocks Road

Lane closures are allowed Monday thru Thursday from 9AM to 3PM and 7PM to 6AM; Friday 7 PM to 10 AM Saturday; 9PM Saturday to 10AM Sunday, 9PM Sunday to 6AM Monday.

 

Detour- East Rocks Road will be closed to traffic between Granite Drive and Oxyoke Lane for a duration not more than nine months.  A notice will be provided at least 14 days in advance of the closure to alert motorists and area residents.
