Connecticut's Wetlands

{Inland Wetland}      {Salt Marsh}
Wetlands provide ecological, economic and social benefits. They provide habitat for fish, wildlife and plants, reduce flooding, and support cultural and recreational activities. Wetlands are commonly identified using familiar terms such as marsh, swamp, river, brook, pond or lake. Connecticut has very specific legal definitions for tidal wetlands and inland wetlands. Other states and federal agencies may use different definitions for wetlands.
