DEEP Encourages All Outdoor Enthusiasts in the East Haddam Area to Cooperate with Those Searching for Missing Man
All outdoor enthusiasts are alerted that a community-wide search will be conducted tomorrow (Saturday October 22) for a missing East Haddam man. The search will include woodlands on private and public lands throughout the town.
The search is being organized in an effort to locate Robert M. Masci, a 68-year old East Haddam resident missing since Tuesday. Masci is described as a white male, 6-foot tall and weighing 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing eye glasses, an aqua-colored sweatshirt, blue jeans and gray sneakers. People seeking information on the search being organized for tomorrow should go to the Town of East Haddam’s website at www.easthaddam.org
Anyone who may have information on Mr. Masci’s whereabouts should contact Connecticut State Police Troop K in Colchester at 860-537-7500.
“DEEP advises those planning on joining the community-wide search for the missing man to be aware of their surroundings and take appropriate safety precautions,” said DEEP Deputy Commissioner Susan Frechette. “We are also asking hunters, many of whom know these woodlots better than anyone else, to assist in any way they can.”
Basic SAFETY TIPS that all outdoor users should follow:
- Familiarize yourself with the area you will be using and know the activities that occur there;
- Wear brightly-colored clothing;
- Consider using a bell;
- If you see another person while in the woods, whether a hiker, hunter, biker or horseback rider, call out to them to make them aware of your location.
