DEEP: ASMFC Lobster Management Area 6 Lobster Conservation Management Team Teleconference

ASMFC Lobster Management Area 6

Lobster Conservation Management Team Teleconference

December 21, 2017

At the October 2017 Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) Annual meeting, the American Lobster Management Board tasked the Lobster Conservation Management Teams (LCMTs) with investigating latent effort in their respective management areas and with developing a proposal to reduce that latent effort. The Lobster Management Area 6 LCMT will meet via teleconference to address latency and develop a reduction proposal to be considered by the American Lobster Management Board at their May 2018 meeting. To assure consistency between New York and Connecticut waters in Lobster Management Area (LMA) 6, Connecticut LCMT members will meet at the CT DEEP Marine Headquarters library and will teleconference with the New York LCMT members meeting at the NY DEC Division of Marine Resources Office in East Setauket, NY. This meeting of the Area 6 Lobster Conservation Management Team will take place:

 CT DEEP Marine Headquarters Library

333 Ferry Road

Old Lyme, CT

As a reminder, Lobster Conservation Management Teams were created in 1997 under Amendment 3 of the ASMFC Lobster Management Plan to serve in an Advisory Panel capacity to the Board and to provide a mechanism to achieve consistency in management measures throughout each LMA. LMA 6 includes all of Long Island Sound and New York waters of Block Island Sound. LCMT 6 includes fishermen from both New York and Connecticut. Interested parties are welcome to attend, but space will be limited.
