March 11, 2011

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) Plan Development Team (PDT) has completed a draft addendum to be considered by the Lobster Management Board at its March 21 meeting in Alexandria, VA. Draft Addendum XVII was developed in response to the Boards request for options to reduce exploitation by 50% or 75% in the southern New England stock area that includes Long Island Sound. This is NOT a Public Hearing Document. The Board will consider the draft provided by the PDT and may make modifications before voting on whether to approve a version for formal public comment. No action will occur until after Public Hearings are completed. The next regularly scheduled Lobster Board meeting is the week of August 1-4.

Draft Addendum XVII may be viewed on the Commissions web site: under "Breaking News" / "ASMFC WINTER-Spring Meeting Final Agenda & Meeting Materials" / "American Lobster Management Board", "Supplemental Materials".
