Conference Call


Present:  Chris Blake (Chair), Meg McDermott (Chair),  Mark Keenan, Michelle Duprey.


Absent:  Bob Shea


Staff:  Molly Cole


Call to Order:  Meg McDermott called the meeting to order at 6:06 PM.


Approval of Agenda:  Michelle Duprey moved to approve the agenda and Mark Keenan seconded the motion.  The agenda was approved. 


Approval of Minutes from November 14, 2012.  Mark Keenan moved to approve the minutes of November 14, 2012.  Chris Blake seconded.  Michelle Duprey abstained from vote due to her absence at the meeting.  Mark Keenan, Chris Blake and Meg McDermott voted to approve the minutes.   


Updates from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities:  Molly Cole provided the committee with updates on federal policy issues including the Older Americans Act, the Affordable Care Act and the pending regulations on ACA. 


Mandated Budget Cuts in 2012.  There will be a special session of the general Assembly on December 17 to address the budget deficit and the cuts proposed by the Governor.  The Committee agreed that this will be a critical issue in the coming legislative session. 


Update on Legislative Agendas from Other Disability Groups:  Michelle Duprey reported that she had contacted OPA, SILC and the ADA Coalition and none of the organizations had established their legislative agendas.  However, the Committee agreed that this may have changed last week when the new budget cuts were announced. 


Next Steps:  Michelle Duprey will contact OPA and determine what action they will be taking regarding the budget and the special session on December 17th.  Once she has made those contacts the committee will determine their next meeting date and next steps. 


Adjourn:  Mark Keenan moved to adjourn and Chris Blake seconded.  The meeting adjourned at 6:43 PM.
