Present:  John Curtin, Alicia Kucharczyk (Chair) , Brenda Stenglein (Vice-Chair), Jim Rosen, Zuleika Martinez.

 

Staff:  Molly Cole

 

Call to Order:  Alicia called the meeting to order at 4:05PM. 

 

Approval of Agenda:  John Curtin moved to accept the agenda, and Jim Rosen seconded the motion.  The agenda was approved.

 

Approval of Minutes from November 14, 2012.  Brenda Stenglein moved to accept the minutes of November 14, 2012 and Jim Rosen seconded the motion.  John Curtin abstained from the vote because he was not present at the November meeting.   Brenda Stenglein, Jim Rosen and Alicia Kucharczyk voted Yea.  Zuleika Martinez had not yet arrived at the meeting and did not vote. 

 

Old Business:  Alicia and Brenda did a re-cap of the November meeting.  The committee agreed to set up meetings with community groups and Brenda Stenglein drafted a letter. 

 

New Business:  The Committee identified some groups to meet with:

         SEPTO/SEPTA groups

         Local Disability Advocacy Collaboratives/groups

         Centers for Independent Living

         CPAC

 

The Committee agreed that each member would pair with a Council staff and meet with 1-2 groups in their area.  They will develop a format for this meeting which will focus on determining the priority areas of each group, areas in which the council could partner or support, and implications for priorities in the Council five year plan.  Following those meetings the Committee will determine the feasibility of sending out a Survey Monkey to a larger list of organizations in order to revise priorities in our Five Year Plan.  The purpose of the meetings is, sharing information about the Council, learning about the priorities of the organization and developing partnerships in common areas of interest/concern.  Brenda Stenglein will draft a letter to the groups who will be visited. 

 

Next Meeting:  The APIE Committee will meet by conference call on December 19th at 4:15 PM.  Each committee member is to bring forward the names of two groups they have researched.  The committee will finalize a letter and draft a schedule of visits to be completed between January and March, 2013. 

 

Adjourn:  John Curtin moved to adjourn and Brenda Stenglein seconded the motion.  The meeting adjourned at 4:47 PM.
