Mr. Germain called the Advocacy, Public Information and Education (APIE) Committee teleconference call meeting to order on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 12:07 p.m. by welcoming everyone to the meeting. Mr. Germain asked for a motion for the minutes of June 17, 2009. Ms. duPree made a motion to approve and Mr. Germain seconded. Ms. Tremarche and Ms. Lortie abstained.

Ms. Langton updated the committee with a status update on the toolkits. All of the Special Education Toolkits will be gone after Ms. Spino completes her fourth training with the Department of Public Health in August. There are 134 Community Inclusion Toolkits left. However, there are 1,260 CDs remaining because the first set of the Community Inclusion CDsí was damaged.

Mr. Germain said that the committee needs to discuss the outreach for the toolkits so Ms. Langton will know how many additional toolkits are needed. The committee decided that toolkits should be at these locations: (1) Public libraries, (2) High schools libraries, (3) Colleges and universities libraries and (4) Powerfest and at any other conferences this fall. The committee would like Ms. Spino to give four more trainings about the Special Education toolkits. Ms. Tremarche wants to assist with choosing the training sites. Mr. Germain noted that there are 242 public libraries including branches. Ms. Langton will get the final number for the toolkits, and she will email the committee the final number.

The committee unanimously voted to have the additional toolkits printed by Hitchcock Printers. Hitchcock gave the lowest bids to print the toolkits.

Ms. Tremarche reported that Ms. Spino is working on the materials for the Restraints and Seclusion Letter. Ms. Tremarche will keep the committee posted on her progress and how the committee can assist her.

The committee agreed that a display board would inform new Council Members and the general public about the Councilís events. Ms. Tremarche suggested that Ms. Langton email the Council Members to see if anyone would to help with this project. The committee would like to use the display board for the Powerfest Event.

The next teleconference APIE Meeting is Thursday, September 17, 2009 between noon to 1 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

Mary-Ann Langton
