Governor Rell Invites Public to

Governor’s Residence Holiday Open House

Governor M. Jodi Rell today invited the public to visit the Holiday Open House at the Governor’s Residence, 990 Prospect Avenue in Hartford .

The Open House runs from:

·        10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, December 4

·        10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 5

·        12:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 6.  

“This house truly belongs to the public,” Governor Rell said. “This free open house gives families from across the state the opportunity to see the Governor’s Residence decorated for the holidays.  I urge everyone to take a few minutes to stop in and say hello.”

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children and teens.

Live entertainment during the Open House will be performed by the following:

Friday, December 4

10:00 -11:00 a.m. - U.S. Coast Guard Choral Group

11:00 a.m. -1:30 p.m. - Taubl Family Musicians (“ America ’s Got Talent” finalists)

1:30 - 3:00 p.m. - Joseph A. Foran Woodwind Trio ( Milford )

Saturday, December 5

10:00 -11:00 a.m. - Choir School of Hartford

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. - Studio E (Flutist Duet)

1:00-2:00 p.m. - Conard High School Solo Choir ( West Hartford )

Sunday, December 6

12:00 -1:00 p.m. - Hall High School Choraliers ( West Hartford )

2:00 - 4:00 p.m. -    Simsbury Light Opera

Santa Claus will be handing out candy canes to children on Friday and Saturday mornings (December 4 and 5) and will also drop by for a visit on Sunday.

Free recipe cards from Governor Rell will be handed out during the Open House and the 2009 Holiday Ornament will be on sale at a cost of $20.00 to benefit the Governor's Residence Conservancy.  This year’s ornament depicts the inside of the State Capitol dome.  Ornaments from prior years will be available for $10.00.  Below is a photo of the 2009 ornament.
