‘Career Express’ to Visit Career Fairs,
Libraries, Offering Work Force Assistance
Mobile Help Center for Job Seekers in Bethel July 1
Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the Career Express – the state’s mobile work force assistance center – is traveling to the Kent Memorial Library today and plans numerous stops across Connecticut in the coming days, including the Department of Labor’s final spring 2009 Career Fair in Cromwell on June 23.
“We’re putting the Career Express on the road, visiting local libraries, schools and community organizations to offer job search assistance of every kind, from polishing a résumé to identifying potential employers,” Governor Rell said. “This valuable service is more important now than ever, with the national economic slowdown taking a terrible toll on the working families of Connecticut. I am committed to doing everything possible to help people find good-paying jobs that will support their families.
“By moving this mobile assistance center around the state, we can ensure that job seekers find a wealth of information and employment assistance right in their local communities,” the Governor said. “In addition, the Department of Labor has CTWorks Career Centers offer even more extensive employment services, including career counselors, networking and computer skills workshops, Intranet access to job applications and specialized veterans’ events.”
