Governor Rell State to Receive
$784,000 in Stimulus Funds for Victim Assistance
Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the state will receive $784,000 in federal stimulus funds to support services that assist victims of crime and bolster statewide training programs.
“These funds will allow the state to continue critical outreach needed in the aftermath of a crime,” Governor Rell said. “The services are a significant safety net that should not be compromised – regardless of economic times.”
The funds are among the $100 million U.S. Department of Justice grants made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for crime victim services and compensation.
The Governor said the state has made a formal application certifying it will adhere to regulations stipulated in the federal act. Those regulations include not using more than 5 percent on administrative costs. The state grants will be administered through the Connecticut Judicial Branch’s Office of Victim Services which provides:
