Governor Rell, Danbury Mayor Boughton
Announce $350,000 in Stimulus Funds for Airport
Governor M. Jodi Rell and Danbury Mayor Mark D. Boughton today announced that the city has been awarded $350,000 in federal stimulus funds for a runway safety analysis at the city-owned Danbury Municipal Airport.
“These funds will give the city much-needed resources to further ensure the safety of air travelers and enhance the airport’s importance as economic driver for the region,” Governor Rell said.
The Danbury Municipal Airport, originally known as Tucker Field, sits on about 250 acres. It is one of 3,400 airports designated as part of the national airport system eligible to receive funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
"The City of Danbury's Municipal Airport is appreciative of the funding provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation for our runway study,” Mayor Boughton said. “This survey of Runway 26 and its surrounding area is vital to maintaining the safety, security and function of our airport.”
