Governor Rell: State Stimulus Web Site
Allows Public to Track Flow of Federal Dollars
Updated Site Now Lists Grant and Business Opportunities,
Follows Progress of Stimulus Projects in Connecticut
Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that through her CT Recovery Web site, the public can closely follow how federal stimulus money is being spent in Connecticut, stay on top of grant and business opportunities and receive timely updates on the progress of stimulus-funded projects and other news related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
“Taxpayers rightly deserve to know how every dime of the federal stimulus package is used. It is, after all, their money and our solemn responsibility to use it the way it is intended – get Connecticut and our economy working again,” Governor Rell said.
The Web site is found on www.ct.gov by clicking on the CT Recovery link.
Overall, Connecticut will receive about $3 billion in federal stimulus dollars. Approximately $1.65 billion is in direct aid and grants while $1.3 billion is in the form of Medicaid assistance. The federal government estimates the ARRA will create and/or save more than 40,000 jobs in Connecticut.
The site contains a comprehensive list of infrastructure projects around the state, which have been approved for stimulus money. Other sections will help municipal officials, non-profits, employers and other groups find other funding opportunities in the billions of dollars of competitive grants available. Another section is dedicated to federal business and vendor opportunities. State agencies have also started to post their individual Recovery Act Web pages for agency-specific updates on the ARRA.
“I encourage everyone to visit and use the information found on the CT Recovery Web site. One of the hallmarks of the federal act is transparency and we committed to keeping the public informed every step of the way,” Governor Rell said.
