Governor Rell Announces State
Loan for Southington Manufacturer
Machinery Purchase Will Help Business Grow, Add 10 Jobs
Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the state has approved an $800,000, low-interest loan to help AcuCut, Inc. remain competitive in the high-tech manufacturing industry.
“Although the manufacturing world has changed dramatically in many respects, the bottom line is still about innovative people making innovative products,” Governor Rell said. “This has always been Connecticut’s strength and our state will continue to encourage companies like AcuCut to keep and grow jobs here. AcuCut started in 1978, expanded in 1998 and is now looking to grow again. These are the kinds of success stories that ensure Connecticut’s place in this highly competitive industry.”
AcuCut, a leader in electrical discharge machining and industrial laser cutting, built a state-of-the-art, 30,000-square-foot facility in Southington in 1998. The company’s 56 workers are highly skilled in design, manufacturing, quality assurance and service. Shifts work round the clock to ensure timely deliveries for other major manufacturers in the aerospace, land-based turbine, automotive and medical sectors.
The company is financing new machinery. AcuCut will invest $200,000 toward this $1 million piece of equipment that will improve the production operation and allow the company to add 10 positions in the next 3 years.
The state portion of the financing is being provided by the Department of Economic and Community Development and the Connecticut Development Authority.
