Governor Rell Accepts Commissioner Resignations

Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that she has accepted the resignations of the following six state agency commissioners:

·        Commissioner Darlene Dunbar of the Department of Children and Families;

·        Commissioner James Abromaitis of the Department of Economic and Community  Development;

·        Commissioner Susan Cogswell of the Department of Insurance.

·        Commissioner (Acting) William Ramirez of the Department of Motor Vehicles;

·        Commissioner Patricia Wilson-Coker of the Department of Social Services; and

·        Jennifer Aniskovich, Executive Director of the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism.

“I thank these commissioners for their years of service and for their commitment to the people of Connecticut,” said Governor Rell.  “They have served their state well and I fully understand their desires to pursue other opportunities.”

“A new term in office brings new beginnings, new ideas and a renewed passion to serve.  The next four years will be filled with a great many challenges.  I now turn my attention to assembling a new leadership team to work with me as we meet our challenges and chart a new course,” she said.

Motor Vehicles Commissioner William Ramirez, who has been serving as Acting Commissioner since August 1, 2006, will return to his position as Deputy Commissioner at DMV.  Insurance Commissioner Susan Cogswell has accepted the position of Deputy Commissioner, also in the Insurance Department.  She will focus her energies on health care access and affordability issues.  Consumer Protection Commissioner Edwin Rodriguez announced his resignation yesterday.

Governor Rell will be naming replacement commissioners over the course of the next few days and weeks.
