Lt. Governor M. Jodi Rell has become the most recent elected official in Connecticut to be honored by the Republican Pro-Choice Coalition.
“More than any other lieutenant governor I can think of, Jodi Rell is an engaged and active leader,” said RPCC National Co-Chair Jennifer Blei Stockman. “From education technology to transportation security, she takes charge of an issue and delivers for the people of our state. Her leadership on women’s reproductive health issues is outstanding. It is no wonder that the Hartford Courant has called her ‘the moral compass for the administration’.”
Lt. Governor Rell was honored by the coalition during a reception Friday.
In the past, the RPCC has honored Governor John Rowland and Representatives Nancy Johnson, Rob Simmons and Christopher Shays, who served as honorary chairs for Friday’s reception. New York Times bestselling author Stan Pottinger was a special guest speaker for the evening.
“The RPCC is a tremendous help to all of us who are working to keep the GOP a party of tolerance and inclusion,” Lt. Governor Rell said. “Whether it’s here in the Northeast, where moderate Republicans are in the majority, or in California, where party leaders acknowledge that they need the support of moderates to win elections, RPCC is leading the way for a broader, stronger Republican Party.”
The Washington-based Coalition is the largest pro-choice advocacy group in the Republican Party. The coalition works tirelessly in Congress to protect a woman’s right to choose through the judicial confirmation process and by helping elect pro-choice Republicans across the nation through its political action committee.
