Clean Vessel Act
For the 2020 boating season, 43 marine facilities in Connecticut have been awarded funding under the federal Clean Vessel Act (CVA) program.  DEEP’s Boating Division, which manages the grant program for the state, has announced that the total grant award for Connecticut recipients is $935,562.00.  The program provides grants for qualifying projects that provide boat sewage disposal facilities, more commonly known as pumpouts.   Four of the 43 grant recipients will receive funding for the construction of new or replacement pumpout stations or boats while the remaining projects entail operation and maintenance of existing pumpout stations and boats.  This program helps keep the state’s waters clean and safe for recreation by collecting and safely disposing of MILLIONS of gallons of boaters’ sewage annually.  Federal funding for this program comes from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s Sport Fishing and Boating Trust Fund which is supported by excise taxes on certain fishing and boating equipment and boat fuels.  For more information about this program, visit the Clean Vessel Act Information-Pumpout Information page.

The completed draft of the Long Island Sound Blue Plan is now available.  This is the version of the Blue Plan that will be submitted to the Connecticut General Assembly's Environment Committee before the start of the legislative session on February 5, 2020.
