BOARD APPROVED JUNE 24, 2009

Effective upon Board approval.

The Connecticut General Statutes provide a member with the opportunity to purchase one year of teaching for each two full-time years of Connecticut public school service as follows:

After a member’s initial purchase of out of state public school teaching service, the Board will require a member wishing to purchase additional out of state service to work two full-time years and buy the service in minimum increments of one year unless there is only a fractional year left to be purchased.  This policy would allow a members initial purchase to be for 3.5 years out of 5 years of out of state teaching.  However, the member would have to work an additional two years at full time in Connecticut public schools before becoming eligible to purchase another year; and then one more year at full time to purchase the remaining 5 months.
