NEW PLAN C AND D REDUCTION FACTORS – POTENTIAL RETIREES

The Teachers’ Retirement Board adopted new Plan C and D reduction factors to become effective January 1, 2009 at the regular Board meeting in September, 2008.

The new factors are available under Benefit Estimator, Understanding Calculator Limits and Assumptions, Plan C and D Reduction Factors. 

The Plan reduction factors are made available to assist potential retirees in estimating your retirement benefit under all the various Payment Plans available through this system.  The new Plan C and D reduction factors effective January 1, 2009 result in a greater reduction to a potential retirement benefit than the reduction factors in effect prior to January 1, 2009.   

Please be sure to understand the terms of the Payment Plans and reduction factors before you retire, as you are locked into the payment plan you select as of the effective date of your retirement, even though you will receive your first retirement benefit at a later date.

Changes to your payment plan can only be made prior to the effective date of your retirement.

You must file a completed Application for Retirement Benefits prior to the effective date of your retirement.
