Governor Rell to Sign Teen Driver Safety Measures Into Law
  On the eve of "TALK to Teen Drivers Night,” a call by Governor M. Jodi Rell for a statewide conversation between parents and their teens about safe driving, Governor Rell applauded the bi-partisan legislative approval of a bill she spearheaded that toughens restrictions and penalties, rolls back the evening curfew for teen drivers and provides for more on-the-road training of teen drivers.

Governor Rell Creates Center for Teen Safe Driving at DMV
  Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced the creation of a Center for Teen Safe Driving within the state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to oversee statewide efforts to promote and improve safety awareness among young drivers and their parents. The new center will focus on promoting the Governor’s proposed new laws, explaining teen driver and parental safety issues, coordinating concentrated enforcement campaigns for the new laws, compiling statistics on teen drivers’ violations and recommending policy changes as needed to continuously enhance approaches to teen safe driving.

Statement of Governor M. Jodi Rell on House Passage of Teen Driver Safety Measures
  Governor M. Jodi Rell today issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed legislation significantly strengthening the state’s laws dealing with teenage drivers: “Today’s action marks a major turning point in the effort to protect our young drivers, their passengers and other drivers. I ask the Senate to add their swift approval so that we can begin the task of educating parents and teenagers about the new laws that will take effect August 1.
