Biography: Joan B. Jenkins

 Attorney Joan B. Jenkins of New Haven was appointed in August 2003 by then Senate President Pro Tempore, Kevin B. Sullivan. She has been reappointed for a full five year term beginning July 1, 2007 by Senate President Pro Tempore Donald E. Williams. She has been the Executive Director of the Children in Placement – CT/CASA since 1995.

This child advocacy organization is charged with the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteer court monitors and guardians ad litem, representing the best interest of abused and neglected children in Connecticut’s thirteen juvenile courts.

 
Her prior experience includes as the Director of Labor Relations for the City of New Haven and a Commissioner on the State Ethics Commission. She currently is a member of the Connecticut Advisory Council for Victims of Crime, Governor’s Task Force on Justice For Abused Children, Schubert Performing Arts Center, New Haven Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors, African American Women’s Agenda and Connecticut African American Historical Society.
