Fully Autonomous Vehicle Testing Pilot Program
 
 
Overview: 
Pursuant to Public Act 17-69, a Fully Autonomous Vehicle Testing Pilot Program (FAVTPP) has been established by the State of Connecticut Office of Policy and Management (OPM), in consultation with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Department of Transportation (DOT), Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) and the Connecticut Insurance Department (CID). This pilot program aims is encourage and allow for the testing of fully autonomous vehicles (FAV) on local highways in Connecticut. The pilot program will allow for a variety of FAV testing in four municipalities throughout the state and bring Connecticut to the forefront of the innovative and burgeoning autonomous vehicle industry.
 
Up to four (4) municipalities (two of which have population thresholds) will be selected by OPM to participate in the FAVTPP.  In order to apply, interested municipalities must complete and submit the below application (together with a copy of the City/Town Councilís resolution approving the application) to:

Applicants must review the "Required Minimum Framework for Agreements between Municipalities and Autonomous Vehicle Testers" document below and include those specified required elements within any final agreement made with an autonomous vehicle tester.
