Description

In Connecticut, the assessment of property is the exclusive function of municipal government. The local official principally responsible for this function is the assessor. Depending upon a particular town’s charter, the assessor may be elected or appointed. In either instance, assessors are responsible for insuring that all assessments are properly and uniformly made and that the grand list is an accurate reflection of all taxable and tax exempt property in the municipality.
