DEFINE OUTCOMES FOR MAJOR PROGRAMS

  • Define outcomes for major programs and annually report these outcomes and delineate strategies to measure outcomes when information is not yet available to measure the effectiveness of particular programs.
  • Research and gather relevant statistical data and other information concerning the impact of efforts to prevent prison and jail overcrowding and make such information available to criminal justice agencies and members of the General Assembly.
  • Assess the cost-effectiveness of the use of state and local funds in the criminal justice system

Required under Public Act 05-249, the Research, Analysis & Evaluation Unit will perform the following tasks:

  • Make computations of daily costs and compare interagency costs on services provided by agencies that are a part of the criminal justice system
  • Determine long-range information needs of the criminal justice system and acquire that information
  • Measure the success of community-based services and programs in reducing recidivism

Please visit us again for updates on this project as we are working with the Forecast/Research Workgroup to devise strategies on how to integrate this type of information into the next version of the Comprehensive Reentry Plan.
