Cervical Cancer

To increase access to the cervical cancer screening test, known as a pap smear, our state legislators passed a bill that provides coverage.

According to the Connecticut General Statutes, Section 38a-530b, each insurance carrier shall permit female members direct access to a participating in-network OB-GYN for:

  • any GYN examination;
  • care related to pregnancy;
  • primary and preventive OB-GYN services required as a result of any GYN exam or GYN condition. Such OB-GYN services include, but are not limited to, pap smear tests.
