OHA: Managed Care - Definition

What Is Managed Care?

What is managed care?  It can be so confusing, but it is so important to understand how it works, your rights and your responsibilities. {doctor examining x-ray}

The principle of managed care is to manage and integrate the whole range of services that you need as a patient.  The managed care organizations provide these health care services to members through doctors, hospitals and other health care providers through contract agreements.  For these reasons, it is important that you understand your coverage before you need to use a medical service.
