Park Street StoryWalk - StoryWalks™ are fun, engaging, community projects that promote early literacy, reading and outdoor physical activity for kids and families. Activities will lead kids and families on a trip through the Frog Hollow and Parkville neighborhoods of Hartford where local businesses will display pages from two selected books reprinted on weather-resistant 2’ x 3’ boards. Families will be given a map with the location of each page and a passport. Each business will stamp their passport leading the families through the stories ending at their local library branch for a free copy of the book. "Quinito Day and Night," by Ina Cumpiano will be displayed in both English and Spanish in the Frog Hollow neighborhood. Ina Cumpiano herself will be making an appearance at the event to discuss her book and sign copies for participants. In Parkville, families will walk through the neighborhood to read Henriette Barkow’s book “The Giant Turnip,” which will be displayed in Portuguese and English. The Hartford Public Library Dwight and Park Street branches will be holding daily literacy activities for families. This event is being sponsored by:  Hartford Public Library, City of Hartford, Hartford Area Child Care Collaborative, and the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
 
Location: Kick-off event will be held at Pope Park Recreation Center, 1405 Park St, Hartford at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 5th. The StoryWalks will be displayed for a two week period until April April 18th. Families can pick up their passport and map at any time at local library branches located at 744 Park Street, Hartford and the Dwight branch located at 7 New Park Avenue, Hartford.
