Example #1
 
Soldier served on active duty from April 2002 through March 2003 in support of Operation Noble Eagle. 
  • Duty station was Fort Monmouth, NJ.
  • Total months of service -- 12 months
  • Eligible for $500.00 ($50 x 12 = $600 -- max is $500.00 as soldier did not serve in a combat zone)
Example #2
 
Airman served on active duty from June 2003 through October 2003 in support of Operation Noble Eagle.  Airman then served on active duty from May 2005 through December 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
  • First duty station was Andrews AFB
  • Second duty station was Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait
  • First tour was 5 months
  • Second tour was 8 months
  • Total months of service -- 13 months
  • Eligible for $650.00 ($50 x 13 = $650 -- served in a combat zone for 8 months)

Solider served on active duty from January 2006 through April 2007 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
  • Soldier served 4 months of active duty at Fort Bragg, NC as part of a train-up
  • Soldier served the remaining 12 months at Camp Spann, Afghanistan
  • Total months of service -- 16 months
  • Eligible for $800.00 ($50 x 16 = $800 -- served in a combat zone for 12 months)
