Carolyn and I are grateful to all the donors and volunteers who helped make this year's Season’s Readings Book Drive a resounding success. We collected some 4,500 books for children and young adults (ages 3-17) that will brighten the holidays and will make an even better 2007 for school libraries, child care centers, and individual families throughout Connecticut.
We especially would like to thank our wonderful partners:
- The Connecticut State Police and State Police Union who collected books at troop barracks and helped with our events.
- Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford, the Connecticut Library Association, and the Greater Hartford Literacy Council who will make sure all of the books find good homes.
- AT&T, Bank of America, and Lincoln Financial Corporation who answered the call with generous financial support.
- Nationwide Moving and Storage of Bloomfield who donated the book drive boxes.
There is nothing like sharing a book and reading a story together with our youth - gifts that keep on giving in so many ways.

Thank you to all who participated!
