Jodi Rell announced today that The federal extension called High Extended Benefits ( The latest unemployment rate released this week by the Connecticut Department of Labor is 8.4 percent for September while unemployment rates for July and August were 7.8 percent and 8.1 percent, respectively. As a result, the average for these three consecutive months now stands at 8.1 percent. “These benefits offer the lifeline we need to help our families weather this economic storm,” Governor Rell said. “More than $150 million in unemployment benefits is currently being provided to our residents each month.
