GIS Day 2008 was a terrific success!
The day at Southern Connecticut State University began at 10:00 with four presentations focusing on technical aspects of GIS; the afternoon track featured four presentations geared toward higher education and health. The audience size varied from 50 to over 90, with an approximate total attendance of over 200 people. In addition to GIS professionals and practitioners from across the state, many students from SCSU came to listen to the presentations and view the map gallery. Following the presentations, the Connecticut Geospatial Information Systems Council held its November meeting to a capacity crowd.
There were over 40 posters and maps submitted, and snapshots of these will be posted soon. Voting for People’s Choice GIS Map Poster: the Winner--Dan Czaja of the Department of Public Safety Office of Statewide Emergency Telecommunications.
