GIS Day - November 18, 2009
The Connecticut Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Council hosted an event to celebrate GIS DAY at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford (Governor Rell's GIS Day Proclamation). The day was a success and opened with a speech from the GIS Chairperson, Diane Wallace.
Presentations focused on various Municipal and Educational GIS disciplines as well as the State's Emergency Managment GIS applications.
GIS professionals and practitioners, vendors, and students from across the State attended the GIS Day event and took advantage of the opportunity to observe and listen to how GIS is utilized in Connecticut as well as view the 52 poster map gallery displayed in the LOB concourse.
The event concluded with the GIS Council meeting and recognition of the winner of the Geography Spelling Bee as well as a presentation of a Certificate of Achievement to the student during the meeting.
