The John S. Martinez Fatherhood Initiative of Connecticut is currently in its fifteenth year of operation. We are extremely encouraged by the many lives we have touched and the accomplishments we have made together.
We continue to work to support and promote the positive interaction of fathers with their children, understanding that fathers are critical forces in their children’s lives, and that they must be acknowledged and assisted with the important role they play. Fathers are a source of love, nurturance and guidance, as well as financial and emotional support.
Fathers in Connecticut should know that they have choices and resources to help them to be part of their children’s lives. The Department collaborates with a wide range of partners to assist communities and agencies in identifying and addressing the needs of fathers and families. We focus our efforts on four proven systems change strategies including, capacity-building in existing programs; infusing father-friendly principles and practices into existing systems; media advocacy to promote responsible fatherhood; and recommending social policy change to strengthen families.
We would like to thank the many staff, providers, volunteers and others who tirelessly work to change state systems and to promote the importance of the positive relationships of fathers with their children. We rely heavily on these unsung heroes to make Connecticut a place where fathers and families are fully supported.
We hope you find this website to be useful as you continue your commitment to Connecticut’s children and their fathers and mothers. Thank you for your continuing interest in and support of the John S. Martinez Fatherhood Initiative of Connecticut.
