DECD: Business Assistance

Tropical Storm Irene Business Assistance
 
 
Businesses negatively impacted by Tropical Storm Irene are eligible for assistance, including bridge financing and loans covering uninsured losses, through DECD.  Highlights of this assistance include:
  • Loans of up to $200,000 to companies for storm-related damage, including property, machinery and equipment, and working capital;
  • Loan guarantees of up to $200,000 will be provided to banks and other lenders to spur local lending to businesses impacted by the storm;
  • Grants will be available to businesses for assistance in disaster recovery, such as temporary help and training; and
  • Technical assistance, linking businesses to a wide array of state and federal resources.
Agricultural businesses are eligible for funding.

Additional Assistance:
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has funding available to assist homeowners, renters, and businesses with federal disaster loans.
 
The application filing deadline for physical property damage is November 3, 2011, and June 4, 2012 for economic injury.
FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) now open across the state will be transitioning into SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOC).  Centers are located in each county and are ready to assist all home owners and businesses affected by Tropical Storm Irene.  Staffed with state and federal disaster recovery specialists, all of the Disaster Loan Outreach Centers will be open Monday through Friday.  Hours vary and are listed below.

Tax relief for those affected by Tropical Storm Irene is available from the IRS.  Various deadlines have been extended for affected taxpayers who reside or have a business in the disaster area.  Additional information on tax relief is available on the IRS website.
Assistance is also available through the business resource centers around the state as well as the Small Business Revolving Loan Fund Partners.
