Overview of Agency's Role in Implementing ARRA

The Department of Social Services (DSS) provides a broad range of services to the elderly, people with disabilities, families and individuals who need assistance in maintaining or achieving their full potential for self-direction, self-reliance and independent living.

DSS is responsible for implementing the following American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) programs :

Section 1553 of Division A, Title XV of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, P.L. 111-5, provides protections for certain individuals who make specified disclosures relating to Recovery Act funds. Any non-federal employer receiving recovery funds is required to post a notice of the rights and remedies provided under this section of the Act. Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the state has directed $10.8 million in federal stimulus funds to prevent homelessness through a community-based program that provides assistance for rent and utility bills intervenes during evictions and offers emergency lodging and other services aimed at keeping Connecticut families and individuals from losing their homes.

Governor M. Jodi Rell today announced that the state will receive $64.3 million in federal stimulus funds to greatly expand a statewide program that helps thousands of low-income families reduce energy costs and consumption by weatherizing their homes.
