Credit Card Payment Options for Connecticut Income Tax

You may make your payment through Official Payments Corporation by using your Visa, Discover, MasterCard or American Express Card for your:

          • State Individual Income Tax (CT-1040 or CT-1040 NR/PY balance due)
          • Extension payment (CT-1040EXT)*
          • Estimated payment (CT-1040ES)*
*   Coupon or extension forms are not required for Extensions or Estimated payments

A convenience fee will be charged to your account by the credit card service provider. The convenience fee is a small percentage of the total tax payment. You will be informed of the amount of the fee and you may elect to cancel the transaction.



To file a return and pay the tax due by credit card:
      • Log onto your account on the TSC-IND, and complete the return. 
      • When you are on the Payment Options page, choose "I will make payment using a Credit Card."
      • Follow the prompts and then click the link to go directly to the Official Payments website.
      • Your payment will not be initiated until you set up the payment on the Official Payments website.
      • Make note of the confirmation number you will be given at the end of the transaction (for your records).


To pay Extension or Estimated payments (CT-1040EXT or CT-1040ES):
      • Visit the Official Payments Corporation Website directly,  www.officialpayments.com.
      • Your payment will be effective on the date you make the charge.     
      • Make note of the confirmation number you will be given at the end of the transaction (for your records).
