For Immediate Release:
Friday, May 16, 2014

Hartford - Department of Revenue Services (DRS) Commissioner Kevin B. Sullivan announced that the agency will host an employee Diversity Health Fair at its 25 Sigourney Street location on Wednesday, May 21 to compliment the state’s annual employee health insurance open enrollment. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Said Commissioner Sullivan, “Health plays a significant role in the quality of our lives. The healthier we are, the more we can expect to live happier, more productive, more fulfilled lives.”

The focus of healthcare has changed from one of only disease treatment, to preventative medicine and measures individuals can take to improve and maintain their health.

Said Commissioner Sullivan, “Knowledge is a powerful tool in the quest to improve and maintain our health. We also must recognize the wide variety of factors, such as the environment, our emotional and mental state, and diet that impact our overall well-being.

“This is why DRS invited a wide variety of organizations, agencies, and practitioners to share their knowledge with employees. This event will give DRS employees, and others who visit our building that day, an opportunity to learn what resources are available to them and how they can incorporate this knowledge and various practices to lead happier, healthier lives.”

Some of the resources available at the health fair will be:

·         Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Commissioner Patricia Rehmer

·         American Red Cross

·         Department of Insurance – Consumer Affairs Division
