The DPW Facilities Management Unit provides safe and efficient space for state employees.  The Unit has care and control of approximately 5,000,000 sq. ft. of active property and 2,000,000 sq. ft. of surplus or inactive property.  Approximately 9000 state employees from various agencies occupy these facilities.  Property management is provided by in-house staff and contracted property management firms.

DPW staff develop the overall budget, plan for major and minor capital projects, assure safety and environmental compliance, perform building inspections, develop preventative maintenance programs, approve expenditures and develop policy for all facilities.  Our staff reviews all expenditures, contracts, and billing packages. The DPW staff and property management firms are available 24/7 to address any building-related problems or emergencies.

The Unit also administers projects up to $500,000.  Projects over $500,000 are developed with the DPW Bureau of Design and Construction. The Unit provides construction support as required for large renovation projects.
