The Eastern District Major Crime Squad is responsible for all major case investigations (homicides, sexual assaults, armed robberies, arsons, etc.) for the 42 towns situated in the eastern portion of the state.  In addition to their primary responsibilities to these towns, the squad is utilized by States Attorneys in Tolland, Windham, Middlesex and New London Counties to assist and support major crime investigations throughout their respective jurisdictions.  The squad also assists and supports the 12 organized police departments within the Eastern District with crime processing and major crime investigations.
