Connecticut State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations

The Bureau of Criminal Investigations consists of the following investigative and support units:

Central Criminal Intelligence Unit Electronic Surveillance Lab
Firearms Trafficking Task Force Casino Licensing and Operations Unit
Extradition Unit Organized Crime Task Force
Crime Control Task Force Auto Theft Task Force
Narcotics Task Force  

The primary function of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations is to perform specialized department investigations in the areas of narcotics, organized crime, auto theft, firearms trafficking, gang activity, extraditions, and electronic surveillance.
The bureau also gathers and disseminates criminal intelligence and provides law enforcement oversight to the state’s two casinos.

Additionally, the Bureau acts as liaison with Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies, the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney, Attorney General’s Office, and local and state government officials.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigations was established in 1975.
