UPDATE :  STATE POLICE RESPOND TO DOMESTIC STAND-OFF IN LITCHFIELD

   On 11/24/09, at 10:25 a.m., State Police at Troop L in Litchfield received a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute had taken place in a private home located at 16 East Litchfield Rd., in Litchfield.

   Troopers responded to the residence and learned that an armed, male subject, John Lavoie (DOB: 05/10/56), was inside the home and he refused to surrender his weapon and come out.  Troopers secured the exterior of the home.  The State Police Tactical Team was summoned to respond to the scene.

    Additional information was learned that a female victim, Shelly Lavoie (DOB-03/29/62), had been in the house, was wounded by gunfire and drove herself to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for treatment.   The victim has since been transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment of non–life threatening injuries.

    State Police negotiators have established a dialogue with the male subject. The event is active at this time.

At approximately 8:11pm, the accused was taken into custody without incident.  He was transported to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for medical evaluation. He is in Connecticut State Police Custody for the charge of Assault 1st  and is being detained on a $500,000.00 bond.  His arraignment will be at GA 18 in Bantom, with the date to be determined by the medical evaluation.
