STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE ASSAULT THAT RESULTS IN DEATH 

 

 

Today 10/05/09 just before 8:00 p.m. State Police Troop-I Bethany received a 911 call from 117 Hatfield Hill Rd in Bethany reporting a fight had taken place at the private residence that resulted in serious injury to the involved people.

 

State Troopers responded to the Bethany residence, secured the scene, and provided emergency care to the two male victims. Bethany Volunteer Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the injured men to Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven.  One injured male was pronounced dead in the emergency room shortly after admission. The second person involved in the altercation who was also transported to Yale New Haven Hospital was treated for non-life threatening injury.

 

State Police Major Crime Squad Detectives responded to this scene to conduct the investigation into this incident. In addition Detectives documented the scene and collected all physical and forensic evidence.  State Police Detectives interviewed all who were present during this assault to determine the circumstances of this stabbing.

 

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time to allow for notification of next of kin. The Office of the Chief States Medical Examiner will conduct a post mortem examination the deceased to determine the manner and cause of death.

 

The Bethany Resident State Trooper is also assisting in this investigation.

 

The State Police investigation is continuing.
