BANK ROBBERY IN LEDYARD CT
At 10:14 a.m. State Troopers from the Ledyard Resident Troopers Office and Troop E and police officers from the Ledyard Police responded to the report of a bank robbery at the Putnam Savings Bank located at #39 Kings Highway at the intersection of Route 12 in the Town of Ledyard.
Initial investigation has revealed that a white male entered the bank and demanded money from a bank teller. The suspect has been described as a white male, approximately 6’2”with a thin build, brown hair, unshaven and in his early to mid 20’s. At the time of this incident the suspect was wearing blue jeans, a gray jacket and a baseball cap with a Boston Red Sox’s emblem on the cap. The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash.
A State Police K-9 team attempted a track of the suspect who was thought to have left the area on foot. Detectives from the State Police Major Crime Squad have been summoned to the scene and will be investigating this incident.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
